ARL crush POF
RAWALPINDI, Nov 6: ARL thrashed POF by seven wickets in their Patron’s Trophy Qualifying Round match at the KRL Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
After dismissing POF for 227 in the second innings, ARL who needed 77 runs for victory in 34 overs were home in 61.1 overs for the loss of three wickets. Afaq Rahim with 34 and Farrukh Sultan who scored 31 not out were the chief scorers.
Earlier, POF who resumed their innings at the overnight score of 96 for three were helped by Ahsan Masud’s solid 75 runs. Saad Altaf with five wickets for 91 was the destroyer as was Alamgir Khan who took three for 28.
At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the match between Wapda and PTCL ended in a draw.
Wapda who earned three first innings lead points from the game, posted 291 for seven after they had begun the final day at the score of four for one.
The highlight of the day was a blazing 31-ball knock of 66 by Sarfraz Ahmed who smashed six sixes. His heroics overshadowed Muhammad Zaman’s innings of 94 and a fine 58 by Farooq Iqbal. Muhammad Khalil was the leading wicket-taker with three for 59.
