HYDERABAD, Nov 6: Protest against the arrest of PML-N and ARD leader Javed Hashmi continued in different cities of Sindh on Thursday.
The PML(N) minority wing workers held a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club against the arrest of Mr Hashmi.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial president of the minority wing and member general council, Siddique Nawaz said that Mr Hashmi was arrested for openly speaking the truth, which has embarrassed the government.
Lashing out at the treasury benches, he said that the political leaders were advocating the cause of democracy while sitting in the lap of dictators.
He said the government had registered false cases against popular leaders, including Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, to keep them away from the people.
He claimed that if transparent elections were held today both Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto would be elected with a thumping majority.
He said the days of the government were numbered, and added that Gen Pervez Musharraf was ruling over the country by pitting the people against one another.
He demanded that Javed Hashmi and Asif Ali Zardari be released immediately.
KHAIRPUR: Workers of the PML-N took out a procession here to demand the release of Mr Hashmi.
They started marching in procession from the residence of PML leader Syed Ghaus Ali Shah and after passing through Faiz Mahal Road and Library Road reached the press club.
The protesters raised slogans for the release of Mr Hashmi.
Local party leaders Mumtaz Rid and Ghulam Hyder Phulpoto led the procession.
SHIKARPUR: PPP leader Sardar Wahid Bux Bhayo has criticized the government for arresting the PML-N leader, terming it an anti-democratic act to damage the right of freedom of expression.
