‘Govt has no control on institutions’

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, Nov 6: The opposition leader in the NWFP Assembly, Shahzada Mohammad Gustasap Khan said on Thursday that mismanagement in the provincial affairs had increased as the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government had lost its control on the institutions, rendering the official mechanism paralyzed.

Speaking to newsmen at the press club, he said that practically neither the MMA nor any other force was in power in the province.

He said powers in the province were being enjoyed by Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani and his cronies, who while ignoring the elected representatives were realizing their vested interests.

Shahzada Gustasap said he enjoyed good working relations with all the members of the MMA in the house except the chief minister.

He said affairs of the government should be run in consultation with both the treasury and the opposition benches.

He said there were a number of religious scholars of high calibre among the MMA MPAs but they had been ignored by the leadership and non-elected people had been inducted into the Shariat Council.

He termed the Ramazam package announced by the MMA government an eyewash. He said the Khulafa-i-Rashideen never differentiated between Ramazan and other months in the dispensation of justice.
