RAWALPINDI, Nov 5: One person was shot dead while a security guard was injured in four separate robbery incidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police said on Wednesday.

In the first incident, Tahir Hussain was shot dead by four persons who entered his house in the early hours of Wednesday in the I-9 police area.

Ahmed Baksh lodged a complaint with the I-9 police saying that four men entered his brother’s house and held his family at gunpoint. When Tahir tried to overpower the robbers, they shot him dead and escaped.

The police said the incident appeared to be a robbery attempt. However, investigation is being carried out to trace the killers.

In another incident which took place a few hundred metres from Chandni Chowk police post, a mobile telephone sets shop was robbed by four robbers on Wednesday night, police said.

The robbers shot and injured the security guard, Tariq Hayat, and snatched his rifle when he tried to stop them.

After injuring the security guard and holding the shopowner at gunpoint, the robbers ransacked the shop and made off with 50 telephone sets and cash.

The injured was first shifted to the RGH and later to Pims. The robbers are yet to be traced by the police.

Earlier, Raja Mohammad Ajaib lodged a complaint with Mandra police, stating that he was present in his shop when a car stopped in front of his shop. Four persons got out of the car and walked into his shop, identifying themselves as intelligence officers. Then, they pulled out their pistols and forced Ajaib to hand them over cash and valuables. They then escaped in the car with Rs17,000, police report said.

Malik Tahir Ehsan told Sadiqabad police that he was going home in his car (FDO-484) when two persons, later identified as Sajid and Wahid, intercepted him and snatched his car at gunpoint and drove away.
