KARACHI, Nov 5: Two ships carrying containers and raw jute are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest owing to slow arrivals and as a result, four ships were berthed. They are: APL Venezuela, to unload and load containers, Amarita, to offload steel cargo, Andhika Adhidaya to offload tallow and Naga to offload crude oil.

Sailing was also slow as only two ships, Bunga Bidara and Handy Silver departed, while York Castle, Andhika Adhidaya, Target, Kota Intan, Naga, Hyundai Future, Jin Shun and Amarita are due to sail out on Thursday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was, however, maintained on the higher side as the total cargo rose to 99,708 tons comprising 5,117 tons of export cargo and 94,591 tons of import cargo including 35,720 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Flame, with containers and Banglar Robi, with 7,854 tons of raw jute.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Nov 5: Four ships carrying containers and iron ore arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy remained steady as five ships, P&O Nedlloyed Damietta, Emblem, Joyous Society, Zhi Qiang and Fu Le were busy in loading/offloading containers, edible oil, general cargo, coal and iron ore.

Cargo handling activity remained brisk totalling 47,006 tons comprising 38,438 tons of import cargo and 8,568 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only one ship P&O Nedlloyed Damietta departed, while Emblem was due to leave the port. Six ships, E-Trader, Maersk Avon, Mexico, Armour-I, D.S. Garnet and Ermis were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.

Three ships, Chemstar Moon, Madura and Qem Star were due, while Ayrshire was expected to arrive on Thursday.
