PIA in control against Navy
KARACHI, Nov 4: PIA bowling trio of Najaf Shah, Fazle Akber and Saqlain Mushtaq shared ten wicket between them to dismiss Pakistan Navy for 86 in their Patrons Cricket Trophy qualifying rounds at PCB Regional Academy Ground on Tuesday.
By stumps on the first-day in three day match, PIA responded by reaching 148 for three wickets in 46 overs. Test batsman Yasir Hameed ended the day on 55 not out with eight boundaries and a six. He batted for 80 minutes and faced 86 balls. Bazid Khan was seven not out at close.
Test opener Imran Farhat went after making 26 with one boundary and Kamran Sajid made 28 also with a solitary four. Pacer Farman Shah took two wickets for 44 runs.
Left arm paceman Najaf snapped up four wickets for 13 runs in sevens, medium fast bowler Fazle got three wickets for 37 runs in seven overs and Test left arm spinner Saqlain picked up two for eight runs in 6.3 overs to shot out Navy cheaply.
Nadeem Babar with 27 topscored for Navy while Hammad Khan hit 24 with the aid of three fours.

At Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Pakistan Customs scored 245 in 73.4 overs against Pak PWD mainly thanks to sparkling half centuries by Aamer Bashir and Azhar Shafiq.
When play ended on day one, PWD in reply were 16 without loss. Faisal Athar was 15 not out.
Aamer Bashir continued his fine run with the bat, hitting seven boundaries in his 75 off 146 balls in 233 minute batting.
Azhar Shafiq hammered an enterprising 68 in just over three hours and it contained nine well-timed boundaries and two sixes.
Azhar and Aamer put on 132 runs for the third wickets but after their departure Customs batting tumbled against leg spinner Riaz Shaikh who claimed six wickets for 68 runs in 20.4 overs.
