KARACHI: Javed’s arrest termed a threat to democracy

KARACHI, Nov 4: The Sindh chapter of Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) on Tuesday termed the arrest of its central president, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, a serious threat to political dispensation and supremacy of the parliament.

The meeting was held at the residence of Nisar Khuhro during which arrest of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi was deplored and three committees were formed for mounting a public campaign against the authoritarian rule and for seeking release of Mr Hashmi.

The meeting decided to organize protest rallies and camps and coordinate efforts with other representative organizations at all levels.

The meeting also expressed concern over deteriorating law and order situation, price hike and growing unemployment in the country.

Those who attended the meeting included Nisar Khuhro, Zain Ansari, Khan Amanullah Khan, Basharat Mirza, Rashid Rabbani, Salim Zia, Syed Abid jafri, Zahid Rafiq Butt, Muzaffar Shujra, Khwaja Tariq Nazir, Habibuddin Junedi, Khwaja Mohammad Awan, Sardar Rahim, tariq Khan, Malik Naeem Awan, Moula Bux Chandio and others.
