KARACHI, Nov 4: A former policeman was killed by unidentified persons who dumped his body outside his house in North Nazimabad late Monday night.

The police said that body of Qasim Shah, 35, a former head constable, was found outside his house in North Nazimabad Block-P. He was axed to death, the police added.

His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the postmortem examination. The police suspect some personal enmity behind the killing. The deceased’s brother, Raza Shah, lodged an FIR against the unknown killers and took the body to Peshawar for burial, the police said.

KILLED: The decomposed body of a middle-aged man was recovered from his house at Chand Bibi Road on Tuesday.

The police said that due to the stench emanating from the apartment, the neighbours informed the police.

The police broke open the door of the apartment in Hanif Manzil located at Chand Bibi Road and recovered the decomposed body which was shifted to the Civil Hospital.

The hospital sources said the body was at least five days old and the victim had been struck in the head with a blunt weapon. Police said the victim lived alone in his apartment.

INJURED: A motorcyclist was injured during a snatching bid near Nagan Chowrangi on Tuesday.

The police said the motorcyclist Khursheed, 50, was intercepted by two armed men at Shahwaliullah Road. On resistance they opened fire.

Hearing the sound of the fire, a policeman posted at a nearby shop opened aerial firing forcing the suspects to flee from the spot.

The injured motorcyclist was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was admitted for treatment. The hospital sources said the victim had suffered a bullet injury in the abdomen.

ARRESTED: The police arrested two gangs of armed robbers and recovered stolen goods and arms and ammunition from their possession.

A spokesman for the police said the ASP Garden, along with the Garden intelligence unit, had arrested seven members of the two gangs in different raids.

The arrested members of one gang were identified as Kamran Lodhi, Javed and Murtaza. Cash and over 60 mobile phone sets were recovered from their possession.

The police also recovered three pistols and several rounds from their possession.

The arrested members of the other gang are Abdul Karim, Mohammad Amin and Saifullah.

Police said that the gang was involved in armed robberies committed in Garden, Nabi Bux, Chakiwara, Sharshah, Gizri and Clifton.

Police recovered stolen cash and mobile phones from their possession. Police are making raids for the arrest of two absconding suspects belonging to the same gang.
