KARACHI: Uplift schemes pledged

KARACHI, Nov 4: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Bukhari on Tuesday said that efforts would be made for construction of road from Manghopir to Surjani Town, under the supervision of the National Highway Authority.

He stated this while inaugurating construction and repair works of a road from Qasba More to Mohammed Pur, in Qasba Colony, at an estimated cost of Rs4 million, as proposed by the MPA, A Iqbal Qadri, under the MPAs’ Preferential Development Programme.

The minister declared that five or six more uplift schemes would be initiated in Qasba and Orangi Towns after Nov 15. He said that sewerage system in the area would also be improved on priority basis, besides timely completion of this scheme.

On the occasion, Mr Bukhari directed the Planning and Development department to provide additional grant for the Mono-Technic Institute and Girls College in Orangi.

Mr Qadri said that in the next phase, a road connecting Qasba Colony with North Nazimabad would be constructed after cutting Qasba hillock.—APP
