KARACHI, Nov 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Tuesday went round various areas of the city for the third consecutive day to personally assess the availability of essential items, their quality and prices during the month of Ramazan.
During the visit, the governor was accompanied by Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan, DCO Mir Hussain Ali, City Police chief and other officials.
The governor visited different markets of Saddar, Malir, Landhi, Korangi Towns, and also went to complaint centres. He inquired about the prices of various items at shops and also had an appraisal about the same from consumers.
He directed the officials deployed for monitoring as well as the consumers to keep a watch on the quality of items being sold and their prices. He directed that price lists should be displayed conspicuously.
The governor was appreciative of certain shopkeepers selling essential items at less than the fixed price. He expressed the hope that other traders would also follow suit during the holy month, and refrain illegal profit making.
He asked the authorities to take action against profiteers and hoarders, and to take regular steps for maintaining the price level.
He told them that besides receiving public complaints, they should also go to shops and monitor the prices of various items and their quality.
The governor directed the City Police chief to provide full cooperation to the administration in that regard.—APP
