Sindh Police, Omar CC victorious

KARACHI, Nov 2: Sindh Police and Omar CC registered victories in the two matches played on Sunday in the 18th Karachi Ramazan Habib Bank A.G. Zurich Ramazan cricket festival at the Karachi Gymkhana ground.

In the first match Sindh Police accounted for Sui Southern Gas Company by eight wickets in a match played in the morning session. Later in the afternoon, Omar CC got the better of Al Noor Gymkhana by 30 runs.

In the first match Sui Southern Gas having first use of the wicket, reached 182 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the 25 allotted overs through some fine batting by Irfanullah (45), left-hander Sohail Medhdi (43), Nizamuddin (30) and Nadim Naeem (25). Paceman Akif Alvi bagged three wickets for 28 runs for the Sindh Police.

With opener Kamran Hussain slamming 82 runs laced with nine fours and five sixes matched by an unbeaten knock of 63 by Shujat Ali with seven fours and three sixes, Sindh Police raced to 187 runs for the loss of two wickets in only 17.3 overs.

In the other encounter, Omar CC batting first, were bowled out for 137 runs in 23.5 overs, with Ashfaq Shafi (38) and Shahid Aslam (28) among the runs. The wickets were shared by Asif Ghori three for 19, Mohsin Akhtar two for 27, and two wickets apiece for 17 runs by Mansoor Ahmed and Atif Raza.

Chasing 138 runs for an outright victory, Al Noor Gymkhana were bundled out for 107 runs in 21.4 overs. Navaid Khan unbeaten with 54 runs and Atif Raza (22), were the only two batsmen to reach double figures as Adnan Kalim three for 21 and Asad Ahmed three for 29 ran amock with the ball.
