Railways-HEC match ends in draw

LAHORE, Nov 2: Railways, gained three points on first innings lead as their Patron’s Trophy Inter-departmental qualifying round match against Higher Education Commission (HEC) ended in a draw at Railways Stadium on Sunday.

Railways had taken a slim 30-run lead after scoring 295 in the first innings and bowling HEC out for 265.

Railways in the second innings were 211 for eight in 93 overs when stumps were drawn for the day.

Unbeaten Javaid Iqbal scored 100 with eight fours and three sixes off 202 balls. Shakeel Ahmad 70 was the other key scorer. He slammed 10 boundaries and two sixes.

Off-spinner Shoaib Maqsood finished as key bowler with 4-88.

A 14-wicket match-haul of pacer Wasim Khan helped Sui Gas to beat Habib Bank Limited (HBL) by an innings and 69 runs at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, according to information received here.

HBL, who had conceded a massive 252-run lead could score 193 before being all out in second innings with Saleem Elahi top scored 65.

Waseem, who had tumbled eight wickets in the first innings for 41 got six more in the second for 56 to end with an excellent figure of 14 for 97.

A ten-wicket match heap by pacer Tauqir Hussain helped SAGA to earn a big nine wickets win against Leo International at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala.

After being made to follow-on, Leo International could score 190 in the second innings and averted an innings lead as set a winning target of nine runs for the rivals which they got for the loss of one wicket. Safdar Niazi top scored with 50.

Tauqir, who had taken four wickets for 44 in first innings finished with six for 51 in the second.

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) earned points on first innings lead against Zarai Tarqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in their drawn game at the Lahore Country Club, Muridke.

Pakistan Air Force also gained three points on first innings lead against Service Industries from a drawn game at Gymkhana Ground, Okara.

Railways vs HEC. Match drawn.

RAILWAYS: 295 for all in 83 overs. And 211 for 8 in 93 overs (Javaid Iqbal 100 not out, Shakeel Ahmed 70, Fahad-ul-Haq 37; Shoaib Maqsood 4-88, Salman Rahat 2-41).

HEC: 265 for all in 83 overs.

ZTBL vs NBP.Match drawn.

ZTBL: 292 for all in 77.2 overs. And 379 for nine in 76 overs (Imran Abbas 168 not out, Naveed Qureshi 110). NBP: 325 for three in 83 overs.

PAF vs Service Industries.

Match drawn.

PAF: 302 for nine in 83 overs. And 251 for four (Rashid Butt 105, Tufail Ahmad 56; Jamshed Ahmad 2-50, Rizwan Ahmed 2-40). SERVICE: 300 for all in 83 overs.

HBL vs Sui Gas. Sui Gas won by an innings and 69 runs. HBL: 97 all out in 22.3 overs. And 193 for all in 54.4 overs (Saleem Elahi 65 53; Wasim Khan 6-56, Muhammad Irshad 2-56, Imran Tahir 2-43).

SUI: 349 for five wkts in 83 overs declared.

SAGA vs Leo International.

SAGA won by nine wickets. SAGA: 292 for all in 74.5 overs. LEO: 111 all out in 32 overs.And after follow-on: 190 all out. Safdar Niazi 50; Tauqeer Hussain 6-51, Atharullah 2-48).
