KARACHI, Nov 2: The KESC has offered Ramazan package to get temporary connections for religious activities as well as for night cricket matches on subsidised rates.

This was stated in a meeting of KESC City Coordination Committee, which was held to review the power supply situation prevailing in Ramazan and the arrangements done to maintain uninterrupted power supply.

The meeting chaired by Incharge Distribution Jamil Gul Shaikh was attended by senior committee member Moulana Mohammed Hanif, chief engineers Shabbir A. Solangi, M. Shabbir and Anis Qureshi, Deputy Chief Engineer Amir Bux Memon and Executive Engineer Mustajab Hasan.

Consumers were advised to avail the facility given under Ramazan package so that they could avoid inconvenience caused by raids conducted by KESC’s special anti-power theft teams.

While appreciating KESC’s special arrangements during Shab-i- Meraj and Shab-i-Barat, Mr Hanif reminded about his earlier suggestion for opening a new operation centre in Moosa Lane, Lyari.

Incharge Distribution Jamil Gul Shaikh and Chief Engineer Shabbir Solangi informed that the required staff was being arranged for the centre after which it would start functioning. They agreed that this centre would greatly help in quick attendance of H.T. faults in area.

It was also decided that standby crews should be posted after Ramazan 20, especially on Ramazan 21 for Youm-i-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali.

The meeting was informed that from Sept 1 to Oct 23, eleven PMTs were energized which included a 500 KVA PMT at Ranchore Lane, 250 KVA PMTs at Chakiwara, Khayaban-i-Bukhari Defence Phase-VI, Mirza Adam Khan Road, Sectors 4-A and 4-B, Baldia, PMT at Ittehad Town and 150 KVA PMT at Khayaban-i-Iqbal.
