Three goals each for Taimur, Hasan

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Oct 30: A three goal rally in the fourth chukker failed to save Guard Rice from 5-6 defeat at the hands of Guard Filter in the Guard Rice polo tournament at the LPC Ground on Thursday.

Rice surged ahead when Taimur Malik who scored three goals struck the solitary goal of the first chukker.

Filter retaliated with three quick goals in the second chukker against one they conceded to take a 3-2 lead.

Feroze Gulzar, Usman Haye and Faaiz Rahim, who all scored two goals each struck their first goals in this chukker. Taimur scored his second for the losers.

Filter dominated the entire third chukker by adding three more goals to take 6-2 lead. Usman, Faaiz and Feroze added one goal.

Rice tried to stage a comeback but could succeed  only in narrowing the margin 6-5. Taimur scored his third goal followed by Malik Asif Tiwana and Ali Riaz.

Three goals each by Taimur Mawaz Khan and Hassan Ali  helped En vogue to beat Agri Mall 8-6 1/2.

The losers had a one and a half goal handicap.

Taimur  scored  the  solitary  goal  of  the  first  chukker, converting a 30 yards penalty hit.

Unlike  the first, the second chukker was full of  thrills  as six  goals  were scored—four by Agri Mall and two by  En  Vogue.

That gave Agri Mall a clear lead 5 1/2-3. Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored three goals while Raja Amir one for Agri Mall. For En Vogue, Hassan and Raja Amir scored a goal each.

En Vogue made a comeback in the third chukker, scoring three goals against one by Agri to reduce the margin by half a goal 6 1/2-6.

En Vogue maintained their pressure in the fourth chukker  and struck two more, one each through Samee Ibrahim and Hassan Ali to win the match.
