MIRPURKHAS, Oct 30: Out of 205 prisoners in the Mirpurkhas district jail, at least 19 were found to be carriers of hepatitis-B.

The screening of prisoners was conducted under directives of the Sindh High Court by employees of the Pathology laboratory of the Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas.

However, there was no case of HIV positive.

This was stated by Dr Ghulam Mustafa Bughio, in charge of the laboratory, while talking to newsmen on Thursday.

He regretted that there has been a sharp increase in the number of hepatitis-B cases among prisoners.

Dr Ghulam Mustafa Bughio said that the government should take preventive measures to contain the spread of disease among prisoners.
