KARACHI, Oct 30: Eight ships carrying palm oil, coal and general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the port agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign as well as local ships.

Five ships, Hyundai Advance, Sea Brilliance, to unload and load containers and offload fertilizer, Emerald Bay to unload high speed diesel, Fare Mare, to unload coal and Zhong Hua-6 to offload base oil were berthed after the departure of as many.

The ships, which departed included Manhattan, Kota Teguh, Marinor, Shalamar and Highland, while Hyundai Advance, Mercs Sajinda, Addaraq, Emerald Bay, Fair Mare, Mercs Kandy and Al-Mirqab are due to sail out on Friday.

Owing to larger handling of liquid tonnage the total tonnage rose to 0.109m tons comprising 17,357 tons of export cargo and 91,442 tons of import tonnage including 60,200 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Friday: Gold River, with 12,500 tons of palm oil, Naga, with 65,000 tons of crude oil, Wan Hai-303, Kota Tegap, with containers, Jin Shun, with 39,000 tons of coal, Fu Yuan Sham, Islamabad, and Sibi, with general cargo.
