LAHORE, Oct 28: Asif Ali Zardari, husband of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, has written a letter to the chief justice of the Lahore High Court for transferring a reference against him to Lahore.

Eight references are pending against Mr Zardari, but he has not mentioned in the letter the title of the reference which he wants to be transferred. He only mentioned that the reference had been transferred from one place to another.

According to Mr Zardari’s letter, the reference was initially heard by an ehtesab bench of the Lahore High Court in Lahore. It was then transferred to Attock, where he had been confined and where it was being heard by an ehtesab bench constituted at the LHC seat in Rawalpindi. When the court at Attock was dispensed with, the reference was sent to Rawalpindi, where it was still pending. —Correspondent
