LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Oct 28: Two schoolchildren were slightly injured when a mortar shell hit a classroom of Shah Zamir Killi primary school in the Zakhakhel area of Landi Kotal on Tuesday.

According to reports, two sub-tribes - Nikkikhel and Karamnawal - had been exchanging heavy fire for the last five days over a land dispute. As a result, the school building was caught in the crossfire and got partially damaged.

Due to exchange of heavy gun fire, a number of houses, including a portion of former MNA Haji Ayub’s house and a room in Malik Abdul Halim residence were also damaged.

Students of Latif Khan High School, soon after the incident, blocked the Landi Kotal-Peshawar road to protest against the incident.

Vehicular traffic was suspended for several hours as students demanded cease fire between the warring tribes.
