ISLAMABAD Oct 28: An MMA delegation on Tuesday left for Kulachi near Dera Ismail Khan to meet with provincial chief of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Samiul Haq group) Qazi Abdul Latif in a bid to reconcile with the party’s provincial leadership that is trying to dissociate the party from the alliance.
The team will meet provincial chief of the JUI-S Qazi Abdul Latif.
The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal team, which is led by alliance’s vice-president Qazi Hussain Ahmed, comprises MMA’s deputy parliamentary leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Prof Ibrahim Khan from Peshawar and JUI-S’ deputy secretary-general Maulana Yusuf Shah.
The JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq is abroad and has deputed Maulana Yusuf Shah to represent him in important party meetings.
Qazi Abdul Latif had presided over the meeting of the party’s provincial working committee, which had decided to part ways with the provincial coalition and later its Shura had also endorsed the decision.
The MMA team was appointed by the alliance’s previous supreme council to suggest remedies to the complaints of the leadership of the JUI-S.
The JUI-S has been complaining about discrimination in the implementation of development projects and the lack of funding for areas under its influence.
MNA Hamidul Haq Haqqani, son of Maulana Samiul Haq, while talking to this corespondent accused the provincial government of treating the party in a “step-motherly” fashion.
