ISLAMABAD, Oct 27: Pakistan and Brazil on Monday agreed to upgrade their relations in political and economic fields and signed a memorandum of understanding for regular consultations between their foreign ministries.
The agreement was reached at the first round of talks between Brazilian Ambassador Edmundo Fujita and foreign ministry officials, led by Americas and Europe additional secretary Saeed Khalid, at the Foreign Office.
Ambassador Fujita, who heads the Asia and Oceania division in the Brazilian external relations ministry, is visiting the country till Oct 29.
The ambassador called on Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar, who conveyed to him the country’s keenness to work more closely with Brazil and other Latin American nations to enhance cooperation in diverse fields.
The Brazilian envoy here, Abelardo Arnates Junior, accompanied Ambassador Fujita.
“The talks focused on ways and means to improve bilateral relations,’’ Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan said.
