HYDERABAD, Oct 27: The convener, Hyderabad district council, Nawab Rashid Ali Khan, has issued a show cause notice to the Nazim, union council-9, Tanvir Siddiqui, asking him to explain why a report against him should not be referred to the ethics committee of the council, it was learnt through official sources.

The notice has been issued in the wake of the report of a controversy existing between the Nazim and the headmaster of the Government Boys School that led to a protest demonstration by students and teachers.

The teachers had claimed that the Nazim frequently visited the school and misbehaved with them, threatening them with dire consequences, including transfers to far-flung places. They had also criticized the indifferent attitude of the Nazim.

RUN-OFF ELECTION: There will be no run-off election for the seat of the Hyderabad taluka Nazim (rural) on Tuesday while arrangements for the Dadu district Naib Nazim seat election have been finalized, said the Divisional Election Commissioner, Hyderabad division, Imran Siddiqui, on Monday evening.

Iqbal Pahore had filed an election petition saying that run-off election should be held as his opponent candidate had not secured 51 per cent votes, required for a candidate under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, in the polls.
