RAWALPINDI, Oct 26: Ehtesham Zeb Raja on Sunday landed the President Cup finishing with a net score of 214 as the three-day tournament came to a close at the Rawalpindi Golf Club (RGC).
President Gen Pervez Musharraf was the chief guest.
Vaqas Ahmed of Rawalpindi lifted the Attock Bowl carding gross 216 while the ladies gross trophy went to Mehvish Javed of the host club who had a score of 175. Mumtaz Kiani claimed the ladies President Cup in the net event totalling 140.
Ehtesham, of the RGC, who was the overnight leader edged Islamabad’s Hamza Amin who was net 215 with Mahmood Sultan following at 219 to take third place.
Vaqas, who led in the gross category going into the final round, stayed ahead to beat the experienced Taimur Hasan another Pindi golfer who was runner-up with 223. Peshawar’s Dr. Aimal Zaman, who also took the prize for the longest drive (313 yards, 7 inches, hole No. 9) had to be content with third spot scoring 224.
In the ladies gross competition Tahira Nazir finished second behind Mehvish at 182 and Dr. Farida Nasir was third with a score of 183.
Uzma Nazir was the runner-up in the net event with 153 while Mehvish came in third at 153.

Amateur net (President Cup): Ehtesham Zeb Raja 214, Hamza Amin 215, Mahmood Sultan 219.
Amateur gross (Attock Bowl): Vaqas Ahmed 216, Taimur Hasan 223, Dr. Aimal Zaman 224.
APP adds: President Gen Pervez Musharraf announced cash awards of Rs 300,000 each for the four members of the Pakistan team that finished fourth in the recent Asia-Pacific Golf Championship.
“Rs. 200,000 for each member is for playing so well in that tournament (in Australia) and Rs. 100,000 for each player is for beating Indian golfers,”
The Pakistan team in the Asia-Pacific Championship comprised Waqas Ahmed, Dr. Aimal Zaman, Tariq Mehmood and Shahid Javed.
It beat India, amongst other teams, on its way to a best-ever fourth position in the championship.
