MIRPUR, Oct 26: Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and in all other parts of the world will observe Oct 27 as the Black Day to protest against the Indian invasion of Kashmir this day in 1947.
The call for the Black Day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Azad Jammu and Kashmir government to protest the Indian army’s action against the aspirations of Kashmiris and in violation of all moral, political and diplomatic norms.
Protest rallies will be held to apprise the world of the Kashmiris’ hatred against India with a call upon the world community to fulfil its obligations for ensuring the right to self-determination to Kashmiris under the UN resolutions.
Oct 27 serves as a reminder to the United Nations to come to help Kashmiris and hold a plebiscite in occupied Kashmir to decide the future of the Valley.
AJK PM: Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Sikander Hayat Khan on Saturday urged India to take positive steps for the resolution of the Kashmir issue, adding that presenting “roadmaps” by New Delhi was not a solution.
Sardar Sikander said this while speaking to participants of a gathering here at the Prime Minister’s House.
Dispelling the impression that exchanges of delegations and the revival of diplomatic relations would help solve the Kashmir issue, Mr Khan reminded that similar efforts in the past had not yielded any positive results.
Referring to holding of talks between Islamabad and New Delhi, Sikandar Hayat said that India should create a conducive atmosphere for holding bilateral peace talks.
Urging India to abandon its stubborn attitude, he said India should grant Kashmiris the right to self determination, adding that New Delhi should negotiate with an open mind.
Terming the unresolved Kashmir dispute a real threat to the regional peace, the AJK prime minister said it was the main impeding normalization of relations between Pakistan and India.
Referring to the performance of the Azad Jammu Kashmir government, Sardar Sikandar said a large number of development projects had been launched, adding that the government was making endeavouring to provide basic amenities to the people. —APP
