Sena to oppose Pakistan-India matches

New Delhi, Oct 25: Taking a cue from Hindu extremist organization Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray’s response to Indian Prime Minister’s latest peace initiative with Pakistan, Sena’s northern region chief Jai Bhagwan Goyal vowed to oppose any sports match between India and Pakistan.

Goyal said, “we would repeat what we did in 1999” if the two countries play any sports in Delhi or any other city of northern India. Sena members had dug up the pitch at Ferozshah Kotla on night of January 5, 1999, ahead of a cricket match in Delhi. This had forced authorities to shift the venue.

“We will not tolerate any India-Pakistan match on Indian soil so long as Pakistanis continue to play with lives of innocent Indian citizens,” Goyal warned.—PPI
