LONDON, Oct 25: Fulham stunned Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford in the English Premier League on Saturday, a result which allowed Fulham’s arch-rivals Chelsea to take over top spot in the table.
Goals from Lee Clark (3), Steed Malbranque (66) and substitute Junichi Inamoto (79) sent United crashing to their first league defeat at home since September 2002 and gave Fulham their first win over United since 1964.
Diego Forlan scored for United on the stroke of halftime.
Chelsea leapfrogged over United and non-playing Arsenal into top spot after their 1-0 win over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge thanks to a first half goal from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Chelsea have 23 points, the same number as Arsenal but Chelsea are top as they have scored two more goals with both sides having a goal difference of plus 11. United are third on 22 points.
Arsenal will go back on top if they avoid defeat at Charlton Athletic on Sunday.
There was an astonishing match at Molyneux where Wolves, three down at halftime, scored four times in the second half to beat Leicester City 4-3 in the battle between the two basement teams, which keeps Leicester bottom.
In other action Newcastle United beat Portsmouth 3-0, Southampton beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 and Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Everton.
Liverpool beat Leeds United 3-1 and Birmingham City edged Bolton Wanderers 1-0 in the early kick-offs.
