QUETTA, Oct 25: The Balochistan Labour Federation has urged the district city government to accept the demands of workers and reinstate the sacked employees.

Labour representatives at a protest meeting held on the lawns of the city Nazim office accused Nazims and ministers of neglecting the workers issues. Federation chief Khan Zaman presided over the meeting.

The labour leaders claimed that union members and ministers Mir Abdur Rehman Jamali and Maulana Faizullah had reached an agreement to accept their demands, but now three months had passed and they failed to present the demands before the cabinet.

The federation had called off its strike following the pact with the ministers for S&GAD and for agriculture at that time, but the government did not honour its commitment, they regretted.

They also accused the bureaucracy of creating obstruction to the operations of the district governments and attempting to create misunderstanding between the ministers and union members.

The labour leaders warned that if the government did not take notice of today’s protest, the workers would observe strikes in their offices to get their just right.

Protesters in the demonstration raised slogans against the chief minister, ministers and nazims, and for the unity of labourers and workers.

CONVICTED: Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Naeem Kakar has convicted a government contractor of corruption and awarded him four-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs5.9 million.

The court on Saturday announced the judgment in a corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Ghulam Jan for embezzling government funds in a road construction project.
