DCA warns of protests against PCB

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Oct 24: Secretary District Cricket Association (DCA) Hyderabad Faheem Baig Mughal warned on Friday if One Day Internationals and Test matches were not allocated to Hyderabad Niaz Stadium then sports lovers of Hyderabad and interior of Sindh would resort to protest.

He said that it was great injustice that Niaz Stadium was not being allocated a single ODI while talking to a delegation of officials of local clubs of the city that called on him on Friday.

Faheem alleged that it was an attempt to sabotage promotion of cricket in interior Sindh and assured the clubs’ officials that he would communicate their grievances to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) authorities.

The DCA official stressed that it was unfair that historic importance of Niaz Stadium was being ignored claiming that this Test venue was once the centre of activities for cricket lovers of Sindh.

However, he claimed that if international cricket activities were not revived at the stadium then it would cause irreparable damage to the games in the province.

He appealed to the chairman PCB to play his due role in the promotion of cricket in interior Sindh.

Meanwhile, activists of Sports Action Committee on Friday burnt the effigy of PCB for non-allocation of any ODI or Test match in the up coming series of New Zealand before press club.

The activists also held a token hunger strike outside Press Club against what they called injustices being committed against Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium.
