LAHORE, Oct 24: Industrialists of the city district have ignored the show-cause notices issued by the District Labour Office on their failure to file declarations under the new labour policy.

Not even a single industrialist in the city district has bothered to answer the show-cause notice out of nearly 1,000. District labour officials are of the view that industrialists think that the labour department has been wound up in the province following the announcement of new industrial relations policy.

Only 42 companies, mostly multinationals, have filed declarations regarding implementation of labour laws so far. Others have neither filed declarations nor answered the show-cause notices issued by the District Labour Office.

Initially the declarations were to be filed by July 30. The District Labour Office issued show-cause notices to industrialists towards the end of last month, as none of them had filed the declaration despite a two-month extension of the period allowed to them for doing so.
