PESHAWAR, Oct 24: Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has expressed resentment over the slow pace of work and use of substandard material in the construction of 300-bed Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

Presiding over a meeting about the hospital project here on Friday, the chief minister directed the departments concerned to speed up the construction work and ensure early completion of the health facility.

Mr Durrani also directed the officials concerned to convene a meeting to look into the affairs of the under-construction hospital.

Provincial health minister Inayatullah, additional chief secretary, secretary works and services and other high officials attended the meeting.

He said the slow pace of work and use of substandard material in the construction of Mufti Mehmood Hospital was a manifestation of the contractors’ non-professional attitude.

He directed that all flaws in the project be removed and necessary action taken against the officers and contractors responsible.

He said those contractors and companies, which used poor-quality material in the construction works and did not have the required men and machinery, should be black-listed.

Earlier, talking to different delegations, the chief minister categorically stated that the government would not tolerate injustices done to any segment of society or individual.

He told a doctors’ delegation from Abbottabad that the government would eliminate discrimination and injustices from society.

Referring to the doctor’s murder incident in Ayub Medical Complex hospital, the chief minister told the doctors that damaging public property, boycotting provision of treatment in emergency cases and blockade of roads were bad acts on the part of the medical community.

He said the vested interest had politicized the incident for personal gains.

The chief minister told the other delegation from Dir that the government was committed to implementing Shariat in the province.
