Wapda emerge champions

LAHORE, Oct 23: Wapda with 95 points retained the National Powerlifting Championship title at the Punjab University Old Campus ground on Thursday.

Wapda claimed nine golds, one silver and one bronze to grab the top position.

Punjab contested well and seized the second position with 60 points followed by Police (40).

President Wapda Sports Board Brig Muhammad Ali Khan awarded the prizes.

The competitions were held in the 75, 82.5, 90 and 100kgs on final day.

The results (weight in the categories of squat, bench press, dead lift, total):

75kgs: Imran Haider (Wapda) 222.5, 117.5, 237.5=577.5; Salman Akram (Punjab), Malik Riaz (OGDC).

82.5kgs: Qamar Hussain (Wapda) 290,150,320=760; Faisal Ali Butt (Punjab); Rana Ali Hassan (OGDC).

90 kgs: Athar Butt (Sindh) 250, 170, 250=670; Shahid Ashraf (Punjab), Rashid Minhas (Wapda).

100 kgs: Imran Khalid (Wapda) 352.5, 222.5, 320=895; Riasat Ali (Police); Ansar Iqbal (Punjab).
