QUETTA, Oct 23: Provincial National Awami Party (NAP) president Azizullah Khan advocate on Thursday said the party’s central executive committee had decided to quit the National Alliance and now the national council would decide on joining either the ARD or Ponam.
Speaking at a press conference, he stated that the NAP was against the construction of Kalabagh Dam and greater Thar canal, besides the Legal Framework Order (LFO).
The executive committee that met on Oct 17, 2003, in Peshawar discussed various issues including organizational matters and decided to hold a national council session in April 2004 to elect new body, he told newsmen.
The committee, he said, also decided to pursue moderate line of action in politics keeping in view the political scenario in the country and the situation in this region. He vowed that the party would frame policies reflecting the aspirations of the people.
Replying to a question, he stated that the party neither demanded new constitution nor stressed to grant autonomy to the provinces according to the Lahore resolution of 1940.
