Savings centre looted

KASUR, Oct 23: Three gunmen looted cash and prize bonds worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the National Savings Centre, Pattoki.

Police said on Thursday the outlaws entered the NSC, Main Bazaar, Pattoki, and held security guard and staff at gunpoint. Later, they took keys from Mohammad Zahid Hussain, in charge the centre, and took away Rs448,057 in cash and prize bonds worth Rs105,000.

Before fleeing, they locked the staff in a room.

STOLEN: Unknown thieves stole an ultrasound machine worth Rs800,000 from a clinic owned by Doctor Tariq Hussain on the Circular Road near Gate Patowanwala.

HEART MELA: A one-day heart mela was held here at the DHQ Hospital. Doctor Ghulam Shabbir Yazdani and others examined heart patients.

A lecture on the effects of smoking was also held on the occasion.

The district Nazim announced a grant of Rs1.5 million for the installation of ETT machine in the cardiology ward.
