KARACHI: Kidnapped trader got freed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 23: A joint team of Citizens Police Liaison Committee and Anti-violent Crime Cell managed to secure safe release of Mr Rajesh Kumar, who was kidnapped on July 21 from Mai Kolachi bypass.

A spokesman for the CPLC said that Rajesh Kumar, a businessman, along with Mr Pawan and his daughter were passing through Mai Kolachi in their car (ACE-620) when some armed men kidnapped them. They took them to Kinara Restaurant where they left Pawan and his daughter, he said. The armed men took away Rajesh along the vehicle. Later, the vehicle was found in phase- II of Defence.

The family started receiving ransom calls demanding Rs50 million for the release of Rajesh.

Meanwhile, Mr Killash Kumar, a relative of Rajesh in Kandh Kot of Jacobabad was contacted by Mujeeb Shaikh, a resident of Larkana district who identified himself as arms dealer. He said that while searching for his stolen car, he came across Rajesh at Palari’s place where Rajesh secretly handed over a letter and a locket.

Mujeeb Shaikh offered to help the family on condition that no agency would be involved.

After obtaining some clues about the kidnappers, a joint team of CPLC and AVCC with the assistance of Hyderabad and Sukkur police started building pressure on the kidnappers for the release of Rajesh.

In wake of their concerted efforts, kidnappers released Rajesh on Oct 22 without taking any ransom amount, he added.
