KARACHI, Oct 23: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of Sindh High Court, who is also the administrative judge for anti-terrorism courts in Karachi division, on Thursday remanded the accused in Suparco carnage case to police custody till Oct 30.
Accused Shahnawaz alias Shan was earlier brought to the court amid tight security.
According to remand papers, Shahnawaz was involved in the firing on a Suparco bus in which six people were killed and seven others were injured.
Complainant Iftikhar Hussain Shah lodged an FIR at Mauripur police station, and stated that unidentified gunmen intercepted the bus, carrying employees of Suparco and sprayed it with bullets, killing Qasim Ali, Raza Ali, Syed Azhar Ali, Hashim Raza, Havildar Muhammed Rafique and Wasi Hussain on Oct 3.Seven people, riding the
bus, also suffered bullet injuries.
The police claimed that the accused was arrested on October 23 and disclosed during the interrogation that he was involved in the said incident, with other persons, namely Rashid alias Tahseen, Javed Bihari and two persons unknown to him.
The accused also allegedly told investigator that attack was carried out at the instigation of Asif alias Choto of Lahori group of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.
The judge, after perusing the remand papers, remanded the accused to the custody of investigation police.
Earlier, the Judicial Magistrate South Lubna Yousuf on Thursday remanded accused Shahnawaz alias Shan of banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi to the police custody till Oct 30 in a case pertaining to killing of two people in Chawkiwara.—APP/PPI
