Aqeel and Aisam to compete in India

ISLAMABAD, Oct 22: Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) will send Aisamul Haq and Aqeel Khan, the top two Davis Cuppers of the country, to compete in “Futures” rankings tennis tournaments in India in December.

“PTF will bear the expenses of their participation in these international ranking tournaments”, the President of PTF, Syed Dilawar Abbas said on Wednesday.

He said the participation of the two stars in these ITF-sponsored International Futures Rankings Tournaments will help them enhance their world rankings as well as gain much-needed international exposure.

“Aqeel Khan specially needs more exposure to international competitions and we are planning to bear his boarding/lodging expenses for more and more international ranking tournaments”, PTF boss said.

The two Pakistanis will figure in the singles events of the three back-to-back futures tournaments in India. Aqeel was the architect of Pakistan’s victory in the play-off tie of Davis Cup, Asia-Oceania Zone, Group-1, at Lahore last month.—APP
