Taimur steals limelight

LAHORE, Oct 22: Four goals by Taimur Mawaz Khan enabled ICI Terylene Oranges to beat ICI Dulux Blues 6-4 in the ICI inaugural polo season match at the Lahore Polo Club on Wednesday.

Oranges got off to a fine start by taking a 4-0 lead in the first chukker

Taimur drew first blood, scoring a spectacular field goal on solo efforts with Usman Hayee doubling the lead with a superb under the neck shot.

An own goal by Sufi Haris, after a short melee in front of the goalpost. gave Oranges an impressive 3-0 lead.

Taimur made it 4-0 by scoring a field goal, his second  in  the  dying minutes.

 Blues, roared back in the second chukker and  at  one stage had reduced the margin to 3-4. Atif Yar Tiwana scored back- to-back  field  goals before Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana converted  a  30- yards penalty hit.

Taimur, again came to increase the lead of his side to 5-3 by  scoring  his third field goal before the end of the second chukker.

In the third chukker However, Taimur Malik struck for Blues in what was the best goal of the match. He chased the ball catching it only six yards before the boundary and without wasting a moment hit an angular shot which went through the  goalpost, to the delight of spectators.

Taimur  Mawaz  scored his fourth goal through  another  field effort  after  a long chase in the fourth chukker  to  make  the tally.
