Statements in couple’s murder case recorded

By Our Correspondent

SANGHAR, Oct 22: Station house officers of operation and investigation divisions of the district on Wednesday recorded their statements before the district and sessions judge in the murder case of Mohammad Hasan Solangi and Shazia Solangi.

The judge, Mir Nabi Bux Talpur, initiated the judicial inquiry into the case on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The SHO, operation, Zahid Ahmad Nasir, said he was patrolling in a police mobile along with his subordinate staff on Oct 8 at about 2:30pm when he received information that four men and a girl were going in a car towards Sim Nala and the girl was shouting for help.

He said he and the other policemen went Sim Nala where they heard two gunshots and saw two bodies of a man and a woman lying near the car.

The SHO said two men fled from the scene and two were standing near the bodies, one of whom, who was later identified as Mir Hasan Khaskheli, father of Shazia, was carrying an unlicensed pistol. The car belonged to Mir Hasan. The other man was Chhutto Khaskheli.

He said Mir Hasan told him one of the bodies was of his daughter and the other was of Mohammad Hasan Solangi, who had abducted her. He said he did not record his statement as he was under stress.

He further said Chhutto told him that Shazia was his daughter-in-law.

The SHO said both were taken to the police station and an FIR was registered under section 302, PPC, and the case was handed over to SI Pyar Ali Hingoro. He said a separate case under 13-D, Arms Act, was also registered.

He said he had not recorded the names of the arrested persons in the FIR as the murder was not committed in his presence.

He said Mir Hasan was later released as Ali Sher, Karo, and Chhutto confessed the crime and DPO, operation, Dr Amir Ahmad Shaikh, granted the permission to dispose of the case against him.

SI Hingoro told the court SHO Nasir handed him over the custody of Mir Hasan and Chhutto on Oct 8 for investigation along with the FIR.

He said the same day he visited the spot in presence of ASI Arshad and ASI Akhtar Ali where the bodies were lying. He said the bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital.

He said he could not locate the car in which the couple had come to Sanghar.

He said the next day he obtained a five-day remand of the accused from the Sanghar judicial magistrate.

The investigation officer said he went to the Civil Hospital on Oct 13 to record the statement of Mir Hasan who was admitted there but the assistant medical superintendent told him his statement could not be recorded as he was depressed.

He said Ali Sher and Chhutto came to the police station on Oct 15 and admitted that they had killed the two persons. He said they were produced before the judicial magistrate who recorded their confessional statements.

He said Mir Hasan was not implicated in the case and the DPO, investigation, Ali Sher Jakhrani, was contacted in Islamabad by telephone who granted the permission to release him. He conceded that there was no order in writing regarding his release.

He said DPO Shaikh gave him the permission to exclude the name of Mir Hasan from the case of having unlicensed pistol and implicated Ali Sher in it.

The SI said he recorded the statement of Jan Mohammad, son of Soomar Khaskheli, after the release of Mir Hasan on Oct 16.

He admitted that the complainant and Musheers in the FIR were policemen.

He also admitted that no person from the Gul Wassan village, the nearest village to the place of the crime, was grilled.
