KARACHI: Induction of non-locals in govt depts slammed

KARACHI, Oct 22: The Jeay Sindh Mahaz (JSM) central committee has expressed concern over the induction of non-Sindhis into the academic and literary bodies of the province.
It termed the process a part of the plan to deprive Sindhis from sovereign power of the province.
The committee met here under the chairmanship of Abdul Calico Junejo to review the “fast deteriorating political situation” of Sindh.
A resolution adopted by the JSM committee condemned the appointment of education minister as chairman of the Sindhi Adabi Board. It referred the minister as a representative symbol of “illegal settlers” in the province. The JSM observed that “outsiders seeking employment in the province had always usurped the sovereign rights of Sindhi people with the backing of rulers.”
The Mahaz asked the people of Sindh to join its national struggle in getting rid of such elements for the protection of political, economic and academic institutions of the province.
It castigated those Sindhi politicians who talked about the rights of Sindh, however, they were in hand glove with anti-Sindh forces to exploit the resources of Sindh.
The resolution stated that such politicians criticized the construction of proposed Kalabagh dam and Greater Thal canal projects while being in Peshawar. But, the same politicians issued statements in favour of the Kalabagh Support Committee when they visited Sindh.
Condemning the duplicity of such politicians, the Mahaz urged the people of Sindh to make these opportunists accountable. The resolution also called for recognizing the rights of Sindhi people over their resources.
The resolution also expressed its concern that despite the repeated opposition of Sindhi people, the government was insisting on the construction of Kalabagh dam and Thal canal projects.
