KARACHI, Oct 22: Secretary Organizing Committee of the unified Pakistan Muslim League Shaikh Sirajuddin has said that the PML constitutional committee, headed by Khalid Ranjha, has submitted its report and all formalities for the unification would be completed by Nov 15.

He said that the report would be made public only after it got signed by PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who had gone to Germany for medical check-up and likely to return by Oct 28.

Mr Sirajuddin, who was flanked by Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh, Haleem Siddiqui, Mir Muhammad Khokhar and Kanwar Arshad, was addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.

Referring to the claim made by Nisar Memon as convener of the Sindh PML(Q) organizing committee, Mr Sirajuddin recalled the meeting held on Sept 17 at the PM House in Islamabad where in the presence of Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, all chiefs of the five PML factions had decided to unify themselves under the banner of PML headed by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

He said that when the five PML factional heads including Shujaat Hussain, Pir Pagara, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Mian Manzoor Wattoo and Ejazul Haq met again on Sept 18, they decided that after the decision for unification of PML factions all office- bearers ceased to exist.

Mr Sirajuddin said that the same decisions were endorsed later at the Kingri House on Oct 1 by all the five factional heads. In the light of this decision, he said, nobody could remain an office-bearer of any committee of the unified Muslim League. He said that the very person who had not accepted the unification decision was behind press reports to sabotage the unification.

At present, he said, the organizing committee consisted of six members, including all the heads of defunct PML factions (Q), (F), (J), (Z), (Jinnah) and Sindh Democratic Alliance.

There were 11 factions of PML prior to the unification decision, he said. However, the remaining six factions would also join the PML after some legal formalities, he added.

He said that Nawaz Sharif could not head any party as he was convicted and sooner or later the PML(N) would had to return to the mother PML.

Mr Sirajuddin said after the return of Shujaat Hussain, the organizing committee would meet to initiate the process of party registration, which would be followed by provincial organizational setup.

Denying the differences in the party, he said, if any leader of any defunct faction claimed to be its office-bearer, he was # acting against reunification process, agencies add.

“Nisar Memon is no longer the convener of any committee of the PML after reunification process”, he added.

He said that their party was very much united under the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat as there were many strong people like Prime Minister Zaffarullah Jamali and Pir Saheb Pagara behind it.

Supporting the Legal Framework Order, he said that the elections were held under the LFO and parliamentary setup was now based on the same order.

He said that the party members supported President Musharraf and the reforms introduced by him. He added that Gen Musharraf could remain in uniform till it was suitable for the country.

“We will wait for Chaudhry Saheb till the first of Ramazan, otherwise, I being the secretary will call the meeting to further the party matters,” he said.

Among others, Azad Bin Haider, Aleem Adil Shaikh, Begum Rahat Javed, Mehfooz Yar Khan were also present at press conference.
