KARACHI, Oct 22: Four ships carrying raw jute and containers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity on the wharves gathered momentum owing to steady arrivals of foreign flag vessels. As a result, six ships, Sinar Bangka, Orient Stride, APL Emerald, to unload and load containers, Badulu Valley to unload soyabean meal, Oriental Salvia, to offload coconut fatty acid and Olar, to load molasses were berthed.

Four ships, Bunga Delima, Corin Thaikos, Panos-G and Oriental Salvia departed on Wednesday, while APL Emerald, Ya Hai, Kota Indah, Hyundai Highway and Olar are due to sail out on Thursday.

A total cargo of 49,846 tons comprising 14,680 tons of export cargo and 35,166 tons of import tonnage was handled, which sharply lower as compared to previous two days figures.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Naga, crude oil, Al-Ihsaa and Cape Henry, with containers and Taraman Bid, with 10,400 tons of raw jute.
