US welcomes Iran N-pledge
SINGAPORE, Oct 21: The White House on Tuesday cautiously welcomed Tehran’s promise to open its nuclear programme to intrusive inspections and work with the UN nuclear watchdog agency as a “positive step” if carried out.
“It would be a positive step in the right direction. Full compliance by Iran will now be essential,” spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters as US President George Bush made an overnight stop here.—AFP
