FAISALABAD, Oct. 19: The Anti-Corruption Establishment have reportedly registered 16 cases against government employees of various provincial departments, including nine policemen, during a campaign launched in seven districts of the defunct Faisalabad and Sargodha divisions.
The cases were registered on the orders of ACE Additional Director Rai Muhammad Amin after they were found guilty during initial inquiries. The cases were registered against police, revenue, education, housing, FDA and excise and taxation department officials.
Constables Akram of Rail Bazaar police station and Aslam of Jaranwala were booked for taking Rs300,000 as bribe from the applicant for getting him a job. While SI Khizar Hayat of Khurrianwala police station was booked for taking Rs130,000 as bribe.
Similarly, cases were registered against constables Azam of Factory Area police station, Zakir Hussain of Tandlianwala police station and ASI Afzal of Darya Khan police station for taking thousands of rupees as bribe from different help-seekers.
ASI Nasir Mehmood of Jhang Bazaar police station, ASI Saifullah Khan of Saria Mohaji police station, Bhakkar, and ASI Javaid Iqbal of Kandaywal police station were also booked for taking illegal gratification.
Corruption cases were registered against Patwaris — Alamdar of Jhang, Iqbal and Aslam of Sargodha, dispenser Irshad Hussain of Health department, Jhang; peon Mukhtar Bagga of Government Girls School, Gulfishan Colony, Faisalabad; Nawaz of FDA, Rafiullah Khan of Agricultural Engineering, Mianwali; and Excise Inspector Jamshed.
ACTION DEMANDED: The Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association (PFEA) has urged the government to take punitive action against cable operators for promoting Indian culture by screening obscene films and vulgar stage shows.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, PFEA Chairman Akbar Rehman condemned the Indian minister statement that it had already captured half of Pakistan through its films.
He said that cable operators were promoting Indian culture which was not only inimical to our national ideology but also a threat to our film industry and other related sectors.
He said India had never accepted Pakistan as a sovereign country and was constantly hatching conspiracies to harm its integrity.
Mr Rehman said the government had provided a code of conduct for cable operators which was being violated flagrantly.
TWO SHOT DEAD: Two persons were shot dead by the outlaws in different robbery attempts on Saturday night.
A boy, Muhammad Asif, was shot dead by unidentified robbers at Chak 293-RB when he tried to hold them out to foil their robbery bid. The killers managed to escape from the scene.
Four masked bandits barged into the house of Aslam and tried to loot valuables at pistol point in Garden Mohalla in the limits of Nishatabad police station. For putting up resistance, the intruders shot dead Aslam and then managed to escape from the scene.
