KHAIRPUR, Oct 19: The chief justice, Sindh High Court, Saiyed Saeed Ashhad Later, said that poor and worried people entangled in litigation were waiting for justice.
He said this while addressing lawyers at the Circuit House on Sunday.
He said that no doubt violation of fundamental rights was the burning issue but the judges of the high court as well as civil courts should perform their duties with honesty and dedication for providing justice to the affected persons.
He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan was taking suo-motu notice of incidents related to violation of human rights.
He said that vacant posts of judges would be filled as the recruitment of civil judges was in progress and by the end of this year vacant posts of additional civil judges too would be filled.
He said that the old building of the sessions court has been preserved as a historical building.
Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of the judicial complex at the court building.
DBA: The president, District Bar Association, Khairpur, while welcoming the chief justice, said that the judiciary was the last hope for the people who needed justice.
He said that Karo-kari, child labour and human rights violations were eroding the society.
He said that three courts in the district were lying vacant since the last three years, and added that there was a shortage of books and furniture there.
He demanded Rs500,000 for financial assistance.
THREE HELD: Following the registration of water theft cases against 29 PPP activists, police have arrested three more growers after conducting raids here on Sunday.
Those arrested were identified as the Awam Dost Naib Nazim, Union Council Raza Abad, Ghulam Sarwar Rajpar; councillor of Union Council Kindyaroo, Hayat Rajpar; and Hussain Bux Mari.
DEMO: The president, All Merchants Association, Ranipur, Haji Nabi Bakhsh Shaikh, presided over a protest meeting against the manager, Habib Bank branch, in Ranipur on Sunday.
The participants of the meeting expressed their resentment over the attitude of the manager, Habib Bank branch, towards his clients. They said that he was not cooperating with the traders.
The participants decided to withdraw all their accounts from the bank.
A large number of local merchants and businessmen participated in the meeting.
