India urged to adopt realistic attitude
SRINAGAR, Oct 19: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Sunday urged India to adopt a realistic attitude about the Kashmir issue and respect the aspirations of Kashmiris.
Speaking at a public meeting on at Kujar-Kolgam in the Islamabad district, APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani said the Indian claim to be the biggest democracy had been exposed by its continued refusal to accept the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
He said the Kashmiris were grateful to the Organization of Islamic Conference for consistently supporting their cause.
He appealed to the heads of the OIC states to pressure India to stop state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
APHC General Secretary Mohammad Yousaf Mir and other leaders were also present.
In an interview, All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Ghulam Qadir Haagroo said the OIC had reflected the Kashmiris’ aspirations by extending its full support to their cause.
He said India had denied travel documents to the APHC chairman, to prevent him from exposing Indian state terrorism at the OIC forum.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah, at a public meeting at Bandipora, criticized the Indian government’s refusal to allow the Organization of Islamic Conference’s Kashmir Contact Group’s delegation to visit occupied Kashmir.
He said India was afraid that its state terrorism would be exposed.—APP
