HYDERABAD: Hesco cuts, restores govt depts’ power supply

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Oct 19: The Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company disconnected and later restored electricity supply to essential and non-essential services of provincial government departments on Saturday to recover outstanding dues of Rs1,257 million.

It was learnt that the power supply was restored following an assurance by the Sindh chief secretary that Rs325 million would be paid by next week whereas a meeting would be held afterwards for deciding recovery of the rest of the amount.

DCOs, district Nazims and TMAs have been asked to expedite payment of the outstanding dues.

The Hesco had to resort to such measures following repeated notices for clearance of dues. The company was supposed to recover Rs1.6 billion by Sept and had warned that if dues were not paid, power supply would be severed.
