HYDERABAD, Oct 19: HDA director-general Ali Ahmed Lund has said two flyovers will be constructed in the city under the package announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf.
He said this while briefing Muttehida Qaumi Movement MPAs Syed Arshad Shah, Aslam Pervez, and Farzana Saeed. EDO works and services, Habibur Rehman Memon, MD WASA Tahir Ahmed and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Mr Lund said schemes of water supply and sewerage system and those of beautification of the city at a cost of Rs6 billion were being prepared.
He said the entire WASA system had been destroyed due to the non-payment of water charges by government departments and domestic consumers. He gave details about the construction of more filter plants and water reservoirs and disposal of dirty water.
Director planning and development Nadeem Rizwan said infrastructure facilities would be provided for Kohisar, Gulistan-e-Quaid, North and East Qasimabad, Hosh Nagar and other areas to encourage housing schemes.
He pointed out that the army had banned construction at Kohisar housing scheme and added negotiations in this regard were in progress.
The elected representatives suggested setting up of a solid waste management plant and provision of basic facilities to residents of slums and 12 villages of Qasimabad.
The MPAs pointed out that 160,000 more residential units were needed for the city. MPA Aslam Pervez proposed installation of gas generators in case of power breakdowns.
