KARACHI: Walk against dowry

KARACHI, Oct 18: A walk against the tradition of ‘Jahez’ was organized on Saturday by the students of the Centre of Excellence for Women Studies, University of Karachi.

A statement of the centre said that the walk was organized to mobilize public opinion against this social evil which causes immense pain and difficulties for those who cannot afford to arrange huge amounts to bear the increasing expenses of dowry.

The participants which included the faculty members as well as the students of Karachi University emphasised the need for ridding the society of Jahez.—APP
