KARACHI, Oct 17: Pakistan’s Saleh Muhammad enhanced his chances of a place in the last 32 stage of world snooker championship by notching-up his fifth win in a row in Jiang Ming City, China.

According to information provided by Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) on Friday Pakistan No 1 Khurram Agha suffered yet another defeat.

Saleh lost a frame against Po-Hsien Lee of Chinese Taipei before handing out a 4-1 defeat to his opponent. Saleh, who made breaks of 94 and 98 in his two league outings, failed to score a break in his 67-34, 56-16, 21-65, 80-28, 63-11 victory.

Khurram continued to struggle in the tournament when he went 2-4 down against Australian Shannon Dikson. The Aussie cracked a break of 77 in the second frame in his 71-57, 4-87, 102-13, 10-70, 68-44, 62-44 triumph. It was Khurram’s fourth defeat in six league games.

Mei Xiwen of China secured break of 141 against Tim English of Wales. Mario Vermann of The Netherlands carved out a break of 136 against Hatesh Modi.

Meanwhile, PBSA clarified that four not two from each pool after league rounds will advance into knock-out stage to be played on Oct 22.—APP
