Imdad, Matloob share first round lead

LAHORE, Oct 17: Ten players returned under-par score on the first day of Bank Alfalah All Pakistan Garrison Open Golf Championship professional  event at the Lahore Garrison Course on Friday.

Imdad Hussain, who recently won the Quaid-i-Azam national championship and Matloob Ahmad fired impressive rounds of six-under-66 each to share the lead. Both posted identical score firing eight birdies and two bogeys.

Imdad registered birdies at the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th and the 18th and lost strokes at the 2nd and the 14th.

Matloob  saved strokes at the 1st,3rd, 5th, 6th,  7th,  10th, 13th and the 18th. He could have presented more attractive  card had he not lost a stroke each in the end at the  16th  and  the 17th.

Shabbir Iqbal (Islamabad) was in second place after returning five under-67 (35,32).  Having five  birdies at the 3rd, 7th, 12th, and the 13th,  Shabbir  also earned an eagle at the 15th before making his last birdie at the 17th. He had two bogeys at the 9th and the 11th.

Ghani Rehman from Peshawar was at the third spot with  four- under-68  (33+35).  Ghani  remained flawless  and  recorded  four birdies—-three on the first nine and one at the back nine  (1st, 2nd, 7th, 16th).

Muhammad Akram was at the fourth spot as he earned three-under-par  69  with birding at the 2nd, 9th, 14th  and  the 15th and a loss of stroke at the 10th.

In the ladies gross event Jamila Jabbar was leading having registered 80.

First round scores (professional):

66-Imdad Hussain; 66-Matloob Ahmed.

67-Shabbir Iqbal.

68-Ghani Rehman.

69- Muhammad Akra.

70- Irfan; Nazir; Munir; Afzal Mohsin; Muhammad Siddiq.

72- Muhammad Tahir; Shafiq Masih;  Josehp John.

Ladies:

Gross 80-Jamila Jabbar.

Net 64-A. Wong (South Korea).
