Sajjad and Shuja set new records

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16: Shujauddin Malik and Sajjad Amin Malik set new Pakistan records on Thursday helping Wapda retain their National Weightlifting Championship crown.

Competing in the 105 kgs weight category, Sajjad established four new records. His snatches of 156 kgs, 160 kgs, jerk of 190 kgs and total of 350 kgs were all new marks.

The previous best of snatch (155.5 kgs), jerk (185.5 kgs) and total (340 kgs) were all held by Kashif Hanif Butt of Railways.

In the 85 kgs category, Shuja improved upon his own previous best of 325 kgs by totalling 327.5 kgs as Wapda with 71 points stayed champions capturing a total of five gold and three silver medals in the two-day championship.

The runner-up spot was claimed by Railways who had 54 points while Police were third, having collected 34 points.
